INFORMATIONAL EVENT AND CHALLENGES OF SOCIAL ECONOMY IN THE SOUTHESTERN SLOVENIA

On Friday, September 16, we organized a round table on social entrepreneurship in cooperation with
BODISOC. The event took place at the Business Incubator in Novo mesto.

At the beginning, Iris Pšunder, a representative of the Novo mesto Development Center, presented
the project SOCRATES. We presented the basic information about the project: Main goals, partners,
strategy and invited them to participate in the project.

After that, the moderator of the round table, Mojca Žganec Metelko from Knof Institute, presented
the role and development of social stakeholders in Slovenia and started a discussion with the
participants: Jasmina Avbar from the CEKR store, Tjaša Stankovič from the Marela Institute, Dr.
Marjetka Pezdirc from the Institute for Tourism, Culture, Sports and Youth Metlika, the director of
the Novo mesto Development Center Franci Bratkovič, Jožica Povše from LAS Dolenjska and Bela
Krajina and Andrej Mladenovič from the Business Incubator Kočevje.

The aim of the round table was to identify the challenges faced by social actors in the Southeast
region and to present the role of social enterprises, how they can change people's lives and bring
positive changes in the world.
